The New York Times has an odd photo on their Web site. The photo is of a woman in shorts standing in front of a group of military men. The odd thing about the photo is there is a portion of a microphone cord on the stage; however, the cord seems to mysteriously end a foot above the stage.
If you trace the expected path of the missing microphone cord, you can see some odd blurring. Some of the soldiers’ faces are smeared, and there is a strange, thin smudge running up the back wall of the room. The image oddities are all in the area where the rest of the microphone cord would be.
Has this photograph, taken by Jim Wilson, been doctored to remove the cord? If so, why?
Without the cord, it looks like a bunch or soldiers are ogling a sexy dancer. With the cord, it would appear that the soldiers are watching a singer or speaker. What’s going on here?
